Media Type and Color Matching

There are a couple of ways to get to this dialog. One is to click the "Options" button in the Page Setup dialog. This deceptively simple screen is where you set the media type (paper type) and how you will handle color adjustment. Notice that I am using "Custom", which means that I am not using any ICC profiles.

Why am I not using ICC profiles? They are supposed to make life easier, right? Yes, well, as I said in the beginning, this is what works for me, and I get very accurate color matching this way. Since it works, I am inclined not to mess with it now.

The "EM 2880" in the menu at the bottom right is a setting that I saved. It means Enhanced Matte paper at 2880 dpi, the highest quality available. Click the "Advanced..." button to get to the screen where you can save these settings (I mean click the button in Photoshop, not here in my tutorial).

An excellent character-driven sci-fi story. I did the book cover illustration, "At the Window".
