My work with TSG Multimedia mostly involves shooting trains at trackside using a tripod and a Canon XL-1 camera. Usually I put the camera in full manual mode and adjust the focus and exposure myself. Once I set up the shot, most of the time it's simply a matter of waiting for the train.

I do some handheld camera work, though for the sake of quality I prefer a tripod. Sometimes it can't be avoided, though, like the time I was shooting from the top of Robert Dollar Co. steam engine No. 3 in Niles Canyon, perched on the slippery fuel bunker and trying not to fall off the train while soot was blowing in my face. I loved every minute!

| An excellent character-driven sci-fi story. I did the book cover illustration, "At the Window". |
